LATEST NEEDS

Apart from our daily needs, below are some special needs we have at some of our programmes or campuses. Please contact us if you would like a more comprehensive list, such as capex or specific budgeted items. Your assistance will be much appreciated.

Piet Needs a Knee Operation

Piet (pseudonym) is one of a family of 4 children who were admitted to Abraham Kriel Childcare’s Care. He lives at a Satellite home, is 16 years old and in Grade 10 at Hans Moore High School. He was a promising rugby player.

He was recently included in the Valke team but was injured in a school match. He will not be able to play in the Valke team again this year.

Piet tore his left knee ligaments and also injured cartilage. The ligaments must now be re-attached and the cartilage repaired. The two state hospitals where we could take him, are OR Tambo and Charlotte Maxeke Hospital, but they can only give him an appointment in June 2018 after which he may come onto a theatre list. This means that he will not be able to play rugby again during his high school career, which would seriously prejudice his future participation in the sport. An operation in a local private hospital will cost ± R 45 000.

Piet was seen by a specialist and helped to obtain quotes from all parties and the private hospital.

Piet is the oldest child and probably will be the responsible person for his sister and two smaller brothers. We need to get him healthy.

Any contribution will really be appreciated and we will definitely report back on Piet’s well-being. If you can make a contribution, please see banking details below or contact us for more information with regard to Piet’s situation.
